Toby captured an intimate portrait of the dancer, artist, performer and choreographer Eileen Kramer. In 2021 she celebrated 107 years of life and creativity.
"I walked into her room and she offered me the most comfortable chair by the window and wouldn’t take no for an answer. ‘Sit, sit’ as she busied herself before perching on the edge of her bed. We talked about the artwork in her room and her upcoming project. She is currently choreographing a dance collaboration called, Water Lilies. Although with hesitation as she wasn’t ‘photo-ready’ she obliged me a photograph before I left.
The house lights went down, she gracefully reclined on the seat by the window on which I had been sitting, picked up a water lily that was on the bookshelf and swayed. 107 years young and still very passionate about her art. A beauty and inspiration."
